Yin Yoga

Yoga begins with listening. When we listen, we are giving space to what is.

 — Richard Freeman

Yin Yoga is about letting go. Of muscles and the swirls in your head. The number of poses during this class is significantly less than with the more dynamic yoga forms. This makes it a fairly static lesson, where you stay in the postures much longer (between 2 and 5 minutes). With every pose you look for the best way to be relaxed in the pose, while still experiencing it intensively.

benefits:

By relaxing your muscles, the connective tissue is stretched. This creates more mobility in your joints. Your breathing and the postures lead you to awareness of thoughts, feelings, sensations and acceptance. Because you stay in the postures for a long time, you have time to observe your mental and emotional resistance, listen to your body and mind and to let go. Yin Yoga has a meditative and calming effect.

suitable for*:

You do not need any previous experience for the Yin Yoga classes. It does not matter whether you are an absolute beginner or very advanced, whether you are in top shape or suffer from an injury.

If you would like to de-stress, deeply relax and calm both mind and body this might be your style to choose.

When you’re more seeking to feel balanced, grounded and stable in body, mind and energy, either Yin Yang Yoga or Ashtanga based classes (easy or vinyasa) might be more suited for you.

Actually, Yin Yoga is intended to complement the more dynamic forms of yoga.
But you can also practice Yin Yoga as a separate yoga form.

At The Yoga Studio you can take a Yin Yoga class several times a week. Different teachers are happy to guide you, each with their own personality. But they have one thing in common: a very large (yin) yoga heart!
