Yin Yoga at De Yoga Studio Eindhoven.
Yin Yoga is the counterpart of yang Yoga. In yang forms of Yoga you can think of for example Ashtanga Yoga and Power Yoga. These last forms focus on building strength by tightening and relaxing your muscles, while Yin Yoga is about releasing your muscles as much as possible. The focus will then be on strengthening and relaxing connective tissue and joints. Because you stay in the same position for a long time (between 2 and 5 minutes) the connective tissue is stretched. This creates more mobility in your joints. You try to relax your muscles as much as possible and then it is a matter of letting go, so that everything in you can become something quieter. Your breathing and postures lead you to your awareness of thoughts, feelings, sensations and acceptance. Because you stay in the postures for a long time, you have the time to observe and release your mental and emotional resistance. Yin Yoga has a meditative and soothing effect.
The number of postures during this lesson is significantly less than with the more dynamic yoga forms. This is because you stay in the postures much longer. With each posture you look for the best way to be relaxed in your posture, while still experiencing it intensively. You can use props (pillows, blankets, belts etc). During this lesson, the teacher has plenty of room to supervise the students intensively and to adjust the postures to individual needs. During the lesson your connective tissue is stretched, so that this is relaxed and your joints become mobile. During the lesson all kinds of thoughts, feelings, emotions and sensations can arise within you. You observe this and try to let go. Yin Yoga is about letting go. Letting go of your muscles, but also of the swirls in your head.
In principle everyone can practice Yin Yoga and also as a beginner you can participate in this lesson.
