Gentle flow (also during pregnancy)

Yoga is one of the best workouts (and workouts) you can do to stay fit during pregnancy.

It is suitable for all fitness levels, all body types and throughout your pregnancy (excluding the first trimester). Yoga can also help alleviate the discomforts that arise during pregnancy.

There are many misunderstandings and especially fables about yoga during your pregnancy these days. At De Yoga Studio we have been guiding pregnant women during their pregnancy for more than 15 years, so we are happy to list the facts for you. There are different types of yoga that you can do during pregnancy, so pregnancy yoga is not your only option.

Hatha Yoga (the mother of all yogastyles, and of Ashtanga Yoga also) is in a practical sense the foundation of pregnancy yoga. From this tradition, the breath is seen as that which connects body and mind. Awareness of the breath deepens the contact and awareness of your body. Performing calm movements to the rhythm of the breath and calm breathing techniques are therefore an essential part of the lesson. Pregnancy yoga is based on a vision of being pregnant consciously, consciously experiencing your child and consciously allowing your child to be born.

Yoga (for pregnant women) has countless benefits, both physically, mentally, emotionally, but also on a spiritual and social level.

- Physical: Develop strength, energy, breathing, posture, flexibility, preparation and contribute to better digestion

- Spiritual (mental and emotional): strengthening inner strength, concentration, and acceptance. You develop a positive self-image, can relax better, and learn what you really feel and what you need.

There are many more benefits of yoga (during pregnancy). For example, it helps with complaints such as pain in the lower back, better digestion and blood circulation and it reduces stress. Read more here>>>

Is yoga airy-fairy?

Not at all! It's not just puffing on a pillow or visualizing waterfalls. Pregnancy yoga at De Yoga Studio is characterized by down to earth exercises that are aimed at getting you familiar with your changing body. You learn to find and keep your balance (physically and mentally) and to prepare for the birth and the first meeting with your baby.

Focus on strength instead of flexibility

In most yoga classes for pregnant women, we focus on strengthening the body parts that you need during childbirth, such as the pelvic floor, hips and your core. Flexibility is less important than strength, because your body really needs strength during pregnancy and childbirth.

Another reason why you should not focus too much on flexibility is that you produce the hormone relaxin during pregnancy. This hormone naturally loosens up your joints in preparation for childbirth. So you are already more flexible than normal and therefore need strength to prevent injuries.

Structure lesson :
